Today is a non-stop and busy day. It started with a reference meeting at 8:30 am, which didn’t last long, probably just 15 minutes I think. Then I went back to my office and prepare for the Q110 class at 1 pm, I will substitute Feng since he is still sick (hope he will get better soon). Also, I need to prepare for my own BI session in the evening. After I done with my office hour, it’s time for lunch, so I went upstairs to join the “Student Worker Appreciation Chili Cook-Off”. I tried two chili with some spaghetti and have two corn cakes. Unlike me, most of the people have their chili without spaghetti. I finished my lunch in half an hour and then went downstairs to get the BI room set up. The Q110 class is ok and my presentation lasted for 35 minutes. However, some of the students are not attentive. I have my dinner a little bit earlier than usual, since my BI session will start at 5:45 pm, it’s a session for graduate students. Out of my expectation, the graduate students perform much worst than the undergraduate students. They not only browse the Internet during my presentation, but even talk with each others. Some of them seem they didn’t pay attention to my presentation at all. Originally, I expected that graduate students would be more discipline and eager to learn than the undergraduate students, however it’s not the case. After the session is done, the professor suggested me to talk a little bit slower, while one of the students suggested me to talk a little bit faster. Hmm… mixed opinion. When I talked with Nancy after the session, she said the students in the session are wild and she is kinda surprised too. But she does think I do a good job. Since I still got half an hour before I need to be on the desk, I looked over the student evaluation. One of the comments in the evaluation is as follows: “The speaker needed to be miced.” Hmm… what does it mean? Does it mean that I need to be louder?
