After weeks for planning, it’s finally the date of moving. This morning, I brought my parent for their summer school registration, and then we went to the rental company to pick up a truck. It is very hot today and the stuff is very heavy, so we all feel burn out. We finally loaded all our stuff in an hour, and then we headed toward our new home. I got out of home at 7 am and went to public library to return some books before I depart to Washington, D.C. I hit off the road for my long driving trip at 7:30 am. The trip is pretty smooth except there is traffic jam when I get into Washington, D.C. Just when I’m 30 minutes away from my hotel, I missed the highway exit. I woke up at 7:45 am and we arrived at the Union around 8:30 am. There’s only a few people there; I went to pick up something for breakfast and we chatted with each other a little bit. The program started at 9 am and there are around 80 librarians there. The keynote speaker is very good, however I saw a librarian typing up presentation slides for his presentation. If I were him, I will not be able to do that. I needed more time to prepare the slides and the oral presentation. After lunch, it seems there were less librarians attending the panel session. The first session after the panel was my presentation. There were around 20 people in our session, which is ok. I attended two more sessions after that and we started to drive back around 4:30 pm. When we arrived at South Bend, it’s already 8:30 pm.

I tried two chili with some spaghetti and have two corn cakes. Unlike me, most of the people have their chili without spaghetti. I finished my lunch in half an hour and then went downstairs to get the BI room set up. The Q110 class is ok and my presentation lasted for 35 minutes. However, some of the students are not attentive. I have my dinner a little bit earlier than usual, since my BI session will start at 5:45 pm, it’s a session for graduate students. Out of my expectation, the graduate students perform much worst than the undergraduate students. They not only browse the Internet during my presentation, but even talk with each others. Some of them seem they didn’t pay attention to my presentation at all. Originally, I expected that graduate students would be more discipline and eager to learn than the undergraduate students, however it’s not the case. After the session is done, the professor suggested me to talk a little bit slower, while one of the students suggested me to talk a little bit faster. Hmm… mixed opinion. When I talked with Nancy after the session, she said the students in the session are wild and she is kinda surprised too. But she does think I do a good job. Since I still got half an hour before I need to be on the desk, I looked over the student evaluation. One of the comments in the evaluation is as follows: “The speaker needed to be miced.” Hmm… what does it mean? Does it mean that I need to be louder?

Many of my friends love playing PC games. My dear brother Robert is one of them. In his free time, he always loves to wondering around the internet and looking for new games in online stores.
