Just like yesterday, we got up early and went to attend sessions. Before we have lunch, we went to the exhibition. I didn’t get every single free stuff as last year, since I knew that I’m not able to take them all back to South Bend. I got cups, water bottles, bag, book etc. The most popular free stuff people got were books and posters. Since the session in the afternoon is not quiet interesting, Fen and I decided we would go sightseeing. We walked for awhile and then took the streetcar to French Quarter. But when we arrived there, it’s almost 6 pm and many of the stores start to close. While we were heading back, we saw the famous coffee shop which one of them mentioned last night. Hence we stopped to have a last tea break there. We ordered an order of beignet, Fen ordered a cup of ice coffee, while I ordered a small chocolate milk. It tastes good. After we done with eating, we walked around a little bit and heading back. Though we just ate something, we decided it’s time to have dinner. We picked a restaurant with an oyster bar. I ordered a cup of cocktail, half dozen of oyster and one more dish which I forgot. The oyster on the shell is kinda small, it will be great if they are a bigger one. Since I ate something before I have the cocktail, I thought that I will not get drank. However, I still get drank this time. My face went red, and my heart beat fast. Right before we left, I told Fen that I didn’t feel comfortable and she said she would went to see where the toilet was. Just right after she left, I can’t help myself but just puked. Since there is no place that I can puke, I just grab the cups and puked there. When Fen came back, she accompanied me to the toilet. I took some rest there and she also went out to buy a bottle of water for me. After awhile I didn’t feel dizzy anymore, hence we went back to the hotel. Thanks Fen for taking care of me.

Originally, I supposed to arrive at New Orleans on June 22, so that I can tour around New Orleans yesterday. But since I wasted a day waiting at the airport, I don’t have enough time for sightseeing now. Today is the first day of conference, Fen and I took the shuttle and arrived at the conventional center on time. On the shuttle, Julie saw me and she said hi to me; she said she is glad that I’m able to get there on time. The conventional center is really big, and since our session is scattered in different part of the building, we need to walk across the building several time, which made our leg tired. For the sessions we went today, a few of them are good, but some of them are just fair. We met Ying in one of the sessions, and we then decided to have dinner together. We done with all the sessions for today around 5 pm, we called Ying and she said she met Xiao and a few alumni, and they could like to join us for dinner, hence we went to their hotel to meet them. After we got all the people, we head off for dinner. We walked almost to the French Quarter and decided on a seafood restaurant. It’s a nice restaurant and the waiter is funny and nice. We chatted, took pictures, and enjoy the food. After that, we decided to go back to the hotel. Though it’s late, there still a lot of people on the street, there were some band playing on the street too. Before we went back to our hotel, we went to Ying’s room and she showed us what she got from the exhibition. Among the stuff she got, I like the cup and water bottle. Hence, I plan to spare some time tomorrow to visit the exhibition and get them.

Today I didn’t go to office, I worked at home instead. After I done with lunch, I checked the bus schedule and have a final check on my luggage. The bus arrived pretty much on time, however when we arrived at the transfer center, I found out that the bus which I want to take is gone already. I wait for half and hour for the next bus and arrived at the train station before 4pm. The ticket office already closed when I arrived, there are two machines there. However, they didn’t take credit card, and what’s worst is they don’t have change. Luckily, I got the exact change. When I got on the train, no one check for ticket. Until the train started, there was still no one checking for ticket. When the train first gets going, it’s pretty slow; it’s even slower than KCR in HK. After the train get out of the city, it starts to get faster. At the same time, a staff walked around to check for ticket and correct fare. You can pay cash on the train if you didn’t buy the ticket, I don’t know that. The train arrived at Chicago around 6:30pm. I met Forrest and we went to Chinatown to have dinner. After we done with dinner, Forrest drove along the Lake Shore Drive. On the way, there was firework at Navy Pier. There were some cars parked on the highway with emergency light on, and suddenly Forrest pull over too. Since the bridge provided a good view to watch firework, many people will pull over on the highway and enjoy the firework. I watched firework on a bridge before, but not on the highway, cool!

As for me, I have written an essay about how my life changes with the birth of my little baby – Lisa. I write about what I feel of being a mother. In fact, all my life seems to be focused on my little baby girl in these two years. Lately I am even thinking about quitting my job and turning myself into a full time mother. My husband agrees with that too. Before the birth of my baby girl, all I thinking about is my husband and my job. Now things have changed. All my thinking about in every single second is my Lisa, Lisa and Lisa. Yes, I feel great of being a mother. And I simple want all my friends know about what I feel. Today is Father’s Day, but over in HK, Father’s Day already past. When I’m chatting with my family last night, I said happy father’s day to my dad and I asked if they will go out to eat at night. My dad said probably they will stay home to eat, hence I suggested mom to buy some tasty food for dinner. As for those who like to have fun and could like to have a lot of freedom and private space, they will need to think about whether they can give up their private time and interest, and put those time into taking care of the kid. I heard from a lot of the people that giving birth to a baby is not hard, but what is hard is how to raise them and how to teach them to be a good kid. Since I brought up a few kids, I agreed with that very much. You need to put in a lot of energy, pay a lot of attention, and be very patient to them. When there is a new member (the baby) arrived in the family, how will that new member affect the family? For sure, everyone will be happy, but will that bring some problems to the family at the same time? One of the blogs I keep reading gives me some thought on it. I started reading her blog when she got pregnant, then she gave birth to her son, and now her son is almost 3 months old. After the birth of his son, some problems occurs between the couple and it made both of them felt so unhappy. Those problems never occur in the past, but it did after they give birth to the baby. Is that coz they didn’t really understand each other in the past? Or there are some other reasons? Then I don’t know. Luckily, they are getting better these days, so I hope that everything will goes well for them la. Usually people only see the good of having a baby, but how many of them do ever think of what kind of problems will come up when they give birth to a baby?

Today, there are 3 high school students start their 8 weeks interns at the library. I didn’t get to meet them until the afternoon. During these 8 weeks, they are going to work for different departments in the library. For my department, in addition to working, they will learn how to make a personal website. There will be 5 classes, and I almost got all the class material ready for them. For the rest of the 3 weeks, I have a brief idea in mind for what they are going to work on, but I didn’t have a concrete plan yet.
